V.A. Shiva is the founder of EchoMail, Inc., a Cambridge, MA based company established in 1994. As an authority on E-Mail technology and e-marketing methods, Mr. Shiva oversees the creation of software technology platforms for intelligent messaging and relationship marketing.
Named 'Dr. E-Mail' by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Mr. Shiva had a pioneering role in the development of E-Mail technology. In 1979, as a high school sophomore, he created one of the world's first E-Mail Systems, earning recognition from Westinghouse Talent Search. EchoMail's patented technology, XIVA is the result of two decades of research by Shiva in pattern recognition and classification, signal processing, information retrieval, neural networks, natural language processing, and semantic networks. EchoMail's solutions deliver long-term, demonstrated return on investment in high-volume, customer-critical enterprise-wide applications. In addition to serving as the foundation for E-Mail development, his research has been used in diverse applications including biomedical engineering, failure analysis for NASA and the U.S. Air Force, document analysis, and handwriting recognition using neural networks.
As the Chairman of EchoMail, his entrepreneurial and intellectual ideas provide the foundation for many of the new products that have made EchoMail a well-established leader in the relationship management arena. As an educator, he developed a series of workshops and lectures in which companies can learn to leverage E-Mail as the ultimate vehicle for relationship management between customer and the company.
CEOs, CIOs, and VPs of Fortune 1000 organizations turn to Mr. Shiva as an advisor in the development of integrated e-business strategies, E-Mail marketing solutions and to help them identify processes for improving customer relationship management.
A respected member of the New England high-tech community, Mr. Shiva participates in discussions with the Under Secretary of Commerce for Technology in a technology policy roundtable, established as part of the Bush Administration's efforts to ensure that high-tech industry concerns are addressed in Federal policy-making.
During President Clinton's administration, Mr. Shiva joined a select group of CEOs who met with former President Clinton and Senator Kerry (MA) to discuss the use of the Internet and E-Mail for CRM and ways that the federal government can implement technology to save tax dollars while improving communications with constituents.
Mr. Shiva is widely recognized as an expert in his field and is actively recruited to present papers and lecture throughout the United States, India, and Europe on topics ranging from speech recognition and neuroscience to global business applications. In addition, he has authored two books: Arts and The Internet: A Guide to the Revolution and The Internet Guide to Publicity. He is currently writing his third book, entitled E-Mail: The Ultimate Relationship Builder.
Mr. Shiva holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, an MS in Visual Studies from the MIT Media Laboratory and a Master's Degree in Theoretical Mechanics, MIT Department of Mechanical Engineering.
